9 Of The Top Fat Burning Foods


Every weight loss program should be designed to burn fat and increase muscle tissue. This can be achieved with two simple tools, exercise and fat burning foods.

1) Lean Proteins: Lean proteins are at the top of my list of fat burning foods. Examples are lean cuts of red meat, skinless chicken breast, skinless turkey breast, and fish (particularly salmon and tuna). Fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, but unlike other oils these have beneficial health properties.

2) Egg Whites: Also on the list of fat burning foods, egg whites are rich in protein but contain little to no fat. They can be cooked as a white omelet, baked, fried, or poached. You can easily separate the yolk from the egg white or you can purchase egg whites at your neighborhood supermarket.

3) Green fibrous vegetables: Green, fibrous veggies are loaded with vegetable fiber, vitamins, and other essential nutrients. As a result, I have ranked them highly on my fat burning foods list. Examples include lettuce, green beans, cauliflower, celery, and broccoli. All are rich in vegetable fiber, vitamins, and other nutrients. As a result, they are high on my list of fat burning foods. At least three of your meals should have a side of green veggies.

4) Low Fat Cottage Cheese:
Low fat cottage cheese has lots of healthy milk protein, including casein. Casein helps the body to slowly absorb sugars and other proteins into the blood stream, preventing large increases in insulin production. As a result, I consider low fat cottage cheese to be one of the best fat burning foods.

5) Other vegetables: Additional vegetables such as tomatoes, corn, peppers, peas, and cucumbers are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. They should be mentioned in any list of fat burning foods and should be a part of any weight loss and fat burning plan.

6) Whey Protein: Whey protein can be purchased in powder form and I rank it highly on my list of fat burning foods. This protein is considered to have the greatest biological importance. In other words, virtually all of the protein contained in whey can be processed and used by the body.

7) Whole fruits: The key in choosing whole fruits is to find those that have a lot of fiber but are low in sugar. Fruits with a high amount of sugar will cause the body to greatly increase insulin production. The best fat burning foods are rich in fiber but are ranked at the bottom of the glycemic index.

8) Oatmeal: Oatmeal is rich in good fiber, which is part of the reason I have it on my list of fat burning foods. It is composed of complex carbohydrates, not simple sugars that increase insulin levels.

9) Skim Milk: Skim milk is virtually fat free but still rich in casein. This protein forms a gel in the digestive tract, which results in protein being slowly absorbed into the blood stream. Drinking skim milk is a good method of supplying your body with a constant stream of protein.
